Your doctor will advise you what types of exercise you can do based on your medical history and a thorough medical exam. INTERVENTION: Therapeutic exercise was defined as the prescription of a physical activity program that involves the client undertaking voluntary muscle contraction and/or body movement with the aim of relieving symptoms, improving function or improving, retaining or slowing deterioration of health.

The Department of Health and Human Services recommends incorporating strength training exercises of all the major muscle groups into a fitness routine at least two times a week, and at least 150 minutes of moderate aerobic activity or 75 minutes of vigorous aerobic activity a week, or a combination of moderate and vigorous activity.

Interventions examined include preoperative exercise (aerobic training, strengthening, and physical therapy); preoperative patient education; early post-operative rehabilitation (weight-bearing and range of motion restrictions, use of continuous passive motion machines, management of perceived leg length discrepancies, exercise, pain management, and patient and family education); postoperative home or inpatient rehabilitation; and long-term rehabilitation (exercise).

The Texas Office of Homeland Security recommends the use of FEMA exercise and evaluation templates to test agency and local government continuity operational capabilities and to develop corrective action plans to resolve deficiencies and weaknesses in the continuity plan.

Emphasise the point to your participants, that neither monitoring nor evaluation have any value if the results are not followed up. If you analyse the successes and weaknesses of your workshop with input of your trainees and then don’t respond as the results demand, participants will most probably feel aggrieved.

In all stages of COPD, exercise training performed in the context of a pulmonary rehabilitation programme has been shown to be effective in a number of outcomes of patients with COPD, such as improved exercise tolerance, muscle strength, quality of life, and reduced dyspnoea and fatigue.
